Bacterial Vaginosis Symptoms

Bacterial Vaginosis Contrary to popular belief, bacterial vaginosis or
BV is not a sexually transmitted disease. In fact, one of the bad
things about BV is that not all who have it show symptoms. Though this
may be the case, there are some symptoms that show themselves after
some time, and will need to be cured instantaneously, since they may
bring about other difficult and frightening complications. Below are
different symptoms that you need to look out for.

Of all the symptoms of bacterial vaginosis, the most common of them all
is seeing an abnormal vaginal discharge. Along with this is a
foul-smelling odor, which usually smells most pungent after
intercourse. Different symptoms of bv include a burning sensation while
urinating, and even to some extent a very troublesome itching problem
in the vulva. Despite all of these, bacterial vaginosis symptoms do not
appear in some cases, but this only occurs on very rare occasions.

Bacterial Vaginosis Can Lack Symptoms

The lack of symptoms can make it difficult for women to overlook the
fact that that they have BV, which will cause serious risks not only to
the woman but to her partner as well. Though not really a serious
health threat, it will soon develop into one if left untreated. Women
who have BV will have heightened risks in contracting HIV if she is
exposed to the HIV virus. Because of this increased chance in
contracting HIV, she will also be more prone in giving her partner the
HIV virus as well. This goes the same for all sexually transmitted
diseases, where the woman, as well as her partner, will be more prone
to contract one. A pregnant woman with bacterial vaginosis without any
symptoms will not only experience preterm labor to occur, but she may
also experience major complications that might endanger the baby's
life.

Immediate treatment is important when any of the symptoms are observed.
Since most women will immediately see the different symptoms, it is
important to deal with all of them to know fully that you are free from
bacterial vaginosis. If you are one of the few individuals who do not
experience any symptoms, do try and ask your doctor for advice,
especially if you are carrying a baby or if you are sexually active.
Prevention is always better than cure, so do try your best to prevent
all bacterial vaginosis symptoms from occurring by routinely seeing a
doctor.
